At the “Barbie” Los Angeles premiere on Sunday, Dua Lipa, the Haim sisters, and other celebs wore see-through attire on the pink carpet, showcasing the trend of sheer clothing to its fullest.
On the runways of Prada, LaQuan Smith, and Rick Owens this season, we saw the trend of sheer clothing and nude looks.
Here are the best sheer looks from the “Barbie” premiere.
Dua Lipa
In a sparkling mesh design by Bottega Veneta, the famous singer channeled Mermaid Barbie, the character she played in the movie. The Italian designer created Dua’s low-cut dress specifically for her. She accessorized her look with a set of diamond Tiffany & Co. jewelry and the silver Rocket mules by Bottega.
Haim
The three siblings each chose a coordinated Louis Vuitton outfit. While Danielle wore a black version of the beaded dress and accessorized with a pink monogram purse from the French fashion brand, Alana and Este donned grey versions of the mesh minidress.
Ashley Graham
The supermodel wore a Nina Ricci ruffled polka-dot gown, giving sheer clothing an Old Hollywood twist. Graham’s figure-hugging outfit, created by Harris Reed, has a sizable pleated appliqué on the bodice. Graham also wore a set of Chopard diamond and ruby chandelier earrings and a pair of open-toe Manolo Blahnik sandals.
Ariana Greenblatt
Designer Yogie Pratama from Indonesia gave Ariana Greenblatt’s transparent ensemble some shine. Greenblatt wore a floor-length gown with a beige silk corset and a floral appliqué-covered skirt. The actress wore Chopard jewelry as accessories.
The movie “Barbie” follows Mattel’s well-known doll as she travels from Barbieland to the real world.
A large ensemble cast, including Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey, Dua Lipa, Hari Nef, Simu Liu, and Ncuti Gatwa, is featured in the movie, which opens in theatres on July 21. The soundtrack for the film is equally impressive, containing songs from Charli XCX, Tame Impala, Ice Spice, Lizzo, and Haim.
“Barbie” was co-written by Greta Gerwig and her long-term companion Noah Baumbach. In the past, the duo worked together on the script for their 2012 dramedy “Frances Ha.”
