Our culture has a tendency to treat women poorly when they age. Even at the age of 30, there is a sense that people anticipate you becoming an elderly woman right away with Gen X TikToker.
Well, recently, a TikTok video by Holly Pan (@hollyhpan) went mega-viral for showing the difference between what people expect a 50-year-old woman to look like vs. Holly’s actual, fabulous style.

Holly stated, “I don’t dress to look younger, I dress to compliment my body and how I feel,” in the caption for her video. And I adore this spirit so much!

People are also completely enamored with Holly’s message, aesthetic, and general vibe in the comments:

A few comments later, Holly answered a query like, “My dad is 50 and already has gray hair and wrinkles, what is he doing wrong????” Holly grinned back and said, “I too have wrinkles and gray hair.”

In another video, Holly kindly revealed her skincare routine in response to comments made requesting it. Holly states, “I want to make it clear that maintaining a youthful appearance goes well beyond appearance. Although cosmetics can delay the aging process, our lifestyle is ultimately what counts.”

“Consider our bodies as plants. Is it receiving enough sunlight, water, and nutrients to be happy? Do we shield it from abrasive substances? Should we remove the diseased and dry leaves? It’s debatable whether God controls when we age or whether we control how we age.”

Holly told OziFox that she is pro-aging instead of trying to stop or stop the aging process, as women are sometimes urged to do. “Pro-aging means a positive attitude toward aging.”
“As opposed to the conventional attitude of trying to prevent aging, it is more of a positive approach to growing older by readying our bodies and minds to accept any changes that aging may bring, particularly for women who will undergo notable physical and cosmetic changes during the perimenopause and menopause. Make sure the changeover is as smooth and painless as possible by actively managing the process.”
Holly describes herself as having a fashion-forward yet refined personal style, which is evident in her passion for finding fun and quirky accessories to go along with her taste in classic pieces that she plays with.
I also asked her what she would advise other women who are anxious about growing older because I find her approach to aging so refreshing (I know, I’m completely asking for a friend here). “Aging is like descending a hill on a new path after reaching the summit of another path,” quips Holly. Even if we know we are getting closer and farther from the top, would you rather keep looking back toward the vista from the top or gaze forward and enjoy the landscape on this new path?”
