Tuesday night saw the arrival in Los Angeles of Strathberry, the Scottish accessories company adored by the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh, to mark the launch of a new alt-leather capsule collection suitable for Hollywood royalty.
The series of grape leather purses was created in collaboration with Shailene Woodley, Ali Wong, and Kristen Stewart stylist Tara Swennen.
To celebrate the bags fashioned from the skins that are a byproduct of the wine business, celebrities including Allison Janney, fashion designer Karla Welch, Micah Schifman, Kevin Erickson, Eva Sanchez, and more descended to the San Vicente Bungalows.
For her part, Swennen is genuine in her love of animals; she is vegan and her pot-bellied pigs are the center of attention in her home.
“Everyone always wants to know about my pigs,” the hairdresser chuckled.
The seven types, which range in price from $495 to $775, were photographed by visitors while they socialized in the upstairs house. The bags are environmentally friendly in more ways than one since they are made with 80% recycled and renewable materials. 10% of the first week’s sales proceeds will go to One Tree Planted, a nonprofit organization that promotes worldwide reforestation. The charity may plant a tree for every dollar given.
The brand is fantastic to deal with, according to Swennen. Leeanne Hundleby, a co-founder of Strathberry, continued, “And she’s been so supportive,” saying that the collaboration had been planned before COVID-19.

Several of the designs resemble their signature shapes, but Swennen said, “We changed the fabrication and they let me add the crochet as an ode to L.A. boho chic, and a little bit of the hippie in me.”
“The market for non-leather goods is expanding. Although leather is where we got our start and where our heart lies, Hundleby stated, “We want to have an alternate product. We are considering experimentation, alternative choices, and reuse. You still have a lovely silhouette and style.
The company, which makes 60% of its sales in the U.S. and is expanding, is now exploring the alternative leather market with the capsule, but it intends to keep experimenting with a second collection.
Will a princess also have the grape styles on her arm?
According to Hundleby, who noted that when the royals wear a Strathberry bag, it is seen all over the world, “the royals are turning into great supporters.” Asia, and Japan in particular, “loves a good royal story.”
